Pilgrimage Overview

Join Fr. Jonathan Molina on a Pilgrimage to Mexico City & Puebla!

DAY 1
Depart USA

Today we board our flights to Mexico City. Upon arrival, we are greeted by our tour escort and transfer to a local church for our first Mass. We then continue to our hotel in Mexico City for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2
Mexico City

This morning, enroute to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a stop will be made at the Plaza of the 3 Cultures (Tlaltelolco) to see the Church of St. James where San Juan Diego was baptized Continue to the Shrine of Our Lady of Gaudalupe to attend Mass and visit the grounds. Continue to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan to see the Pyramids of the Sun, the Moon, Quetzal Butterfly Temple. Lunch at Gran Teocalli.

DAY 3
Puebla & Cholula

Departing from Mexico City, we travel to Puebla, where we visit the Cathedral of Puebla, a masterpiece of Spanish Baroque architecture. We also explore Santo Domingo Church, home to the breathtaking Rosary Chapel, often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World” for its intricate gold-covered stucco work. Next, we journey to Cholula to visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Remedies, a 16th-century church built atop the world’s largest pyramid by volume. After taking in its stunning views, we return to Mexico City for dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 4
Zocalo & Xochimilco

Today we visit the Zocalo with Metropolitan Cathedral, Templo Mayor, and National Palace – murals of Diego Rivera.  Afterwards, we transfer to take a delightful gondola ride along the flower laden canals of Xochimilco – the floating gardens of Mexico. A box lunch will be available on board the bus enroute to Xochimilco. We then return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 5
Cuernavaca & Taxco

After breakfast, we will drive 1.5 hours to Cuernavaca to visit its historic cathedral, originally a Franciscan monastery. This site trained missionaries who evangelized the Philippines and Asia, including St. Philip of Jesus, Mexico’s first saint. Martyred in Japan in 1596, he is honored in the cathedral’s stunning nave murals. The convent also features early frescoes, including a striking crucifixion and a unique spiritual genealogy of St. Francis. We then continue to Taxco (1.5 hours), a picturesque silver-mining town with steep cobblestone streets and whitewashed houses. Here, we visit the 18th-century baroque Santa Prisca Cathedral before returning to Mexico City.

DAY 6
Return Home

Time permitting, we attend Mass in the morning before transferring to the airport for our return flights home, carrying with us memories and keepsakes that will last a lifetime.
