Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome & The Amalfi Coast
Pilgrimage Overview
Join Fr. Wayne Dawson on a Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome & The Amalfi Coast!
DAY 1
Depart USA
Today we board our overnight flights to Rome with snacks and beverages served aloft.
DAY 2
Arrive Rome
Upon arrival in Rome, we are greeted by our Representative who will accompany us throughout Italy. We will transfer to San Paul Outside the Walls, one of the four major basilicas in Rome, where we will celebrate Mass and visit the tombs of St. Paul. After Mass we will retire to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3
Rome
This morning, we head to Vatican City to experience one of the most moving highlights of our journey—a Papal Audience with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV (subject to the Holy Father’s schedule and health). Surrounded by pilgrims from all over the world, we’ll gather in St. Peter’s Square to receive the Pope’s apostolic blessing, an unforgettable moment of unity, joy, and grace for our Jubilee pilgrimage. In the afternoon, we visit the Major Basilicas of Rome. At the Basilica of St. Mary Major, the largest in Rome dedicated to Our Lady, we’ll see breathtaking Biblical mosaics, a gilded ceiling believed to contain gold brought back from the New World by Columbus, and a relic of the Holy Crib. While here, we’ll also visit the recently established tomb of Pope Francis—a site of deep reverence and gratitude for his legacy of humility, mercy, and reform. We continue to the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the oldest and highest-ranking of the four major basilicas, serving as the official cathedral of the Bishop of Rome—the Pope. We’ll also visit the Scala Santa (Holy Stairs), believed to be the very steps Christ ascended during His Passion, brought to Rome by St. Helena. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4
Christian Rome
-Today we tour the Vatican Museums, where we will marvel at the sight of the incredible collections of art, we will see the Tapestry Gallery, Raphael Rooms, and Sistine Chapel. After we continue to St. Peter’s Basilica, built on the site where St. Peter the Apostle was martyred. Here we will walk through the Holy Door for the Jubilee and receive our plenary indulgence. Later, we will have the opportunity to pray at the tomb of St. John Paul II and view Michelangelo’s Pieta sculpture. Break for lunch. In the evening, we do a walking tour of Rome and visit sites such as the Trevi Fountain, pass by the Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Roman Forum.
DAY 5
Depart Rome
After Breakfast and check out we board our bus and enjoy the scenic route to Monte Cassino. During the bus ride, our tour escort will share interesting information regarding the spiritual, historical, and cultural aspects of Italy. Monte Cassino, the principal monastery of the Benedictine Order, was founded by Saint Benedict around 530 A.D. We tour the monastery. Time for lunch before we continue to our hotel in Sorrento. Evening is at leisure to explore Sorrento.
DAY 6
Pompei
After breakfast, we set out for Pompei. There we will go on an archaeological journey through the ancient city. Buried under a layer of ashes and lapilli by a sudden eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D, after 1700 years, the excavations have brought to light Pompei, a town whose daily light of Imperial Age has been petrified, as if under a spell. Furthermore, visiting the “frozen city”, we will see houses, shops, temples, squares, streets and understand the way of living of the ancient Romans. After we break for lunch, we will celebrate Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Shrine before returning to Sorrento for dinner and overnight.
DAY 7
Amalfi Coast
Today we depart the hotel for Ravello to explore the beautiful gardens of Villa Rufolo. Continue along the narrow roads known as the Citrus Coast due to the abundance of Lemon and Orange trees, to Amalfi. After breaking for lunch, we explore the Amalfi Cathedral to see the relics of Saint Andrew, the crypt where he is buried, and to celebrate Mass. We will then visit a Limoncello family-run farm to try our hand at making the tasty liqeur. We depart Amalfi in the late afternoon and return to Sorrento for a leisurely dinner and overnight.
DAY 8
Capri
Transfer to the pier in Sorrento and journey to Capri by hydrofoil. Capri is known by various names: “The Blue Island,” “The Sleeping Beauty,” or perhaps most fittingly, “The Island of Love.” This island’s stunning beauty led Emperor Tiberius to govern the Roman Empire from here for a decade. Explore the island’s panoramic views via small minibuses and, weather permitting, venture into the enchanting Blue Grotto by rowboats with a local guide. Visit the delightful Marina Piccola, the Salto di Tiberio, the heart of Capri, and Piazza Umberto I, a charming closedoff square reminiscent of a courtyard. Discover Augusto Gardens, constructed upon the remnants of ancient Roman structures. Conclude the day with a return to Sorrento for dinner and an overnight stay.
DAY 9
Naples
This morning we transfer to Naples where we will enjoy a panoramic tour of Naples. We will visit the Basilica of San Paolo Maggiore to see the Presepe Nativity Scene. Next, we visit the Duomo to see the Chapel of St. Januarius (San Gennaro) the city’s main patron saint. The best-known miracle, still ongoing, relates to the saint’s blood – two vials contain San Gennaro’s coagulated blood, which liquefies each year thrice. On September 19, the saint’s feast day, the archbishop of Naples presides over a Mass and ritual marking the liquefaction. After the blood liquefies, the bishop places the vials on the altar for eight days so the faithful can venerate the relics. Return to Rome for dinner and overnight.
DAY 10

Today after breakfast, we transfer to the airport to board our return flights home with memories and keepsakes that will last a lifetime.
