Pilgrimage Overview

DAY 1
Depart USA

Today we board our flights overseas with beverages and snacks served aloft.

DAY 2
Arrive Lisbon

Upon arrival in Lisbon, we are greeted by our travel representative and transfer to our hotel in Fatima for dinner. Immediately after dinner we participate in the Rosary and special candlelight processional which commemorates the Eve of the “Miracle of the Sun” which occurred on October 13, 1917, when a large crowd witnessed a series of celestial phenomena, including the sun appearing to dance in the sky, as part of the Marian apparitions reported by the shepherd children at Fatima.
Overnight: Fatima (*Dinner)

DAY 3
Fatima

This day is dedicated to commemorating the miraculous events that occurred in Fatima on October 13, 1917. On this special anniversary, pilgrims from around the world gather to honor the final apparition of Our Blessed Mother to the shepherd children Lucia, Jacinta, and Francisco. Our day begins at the Little Chapel of the Apparitions, where Mary first appeared, followed by a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, where the tombs of the visionaries are venerated. We will join in the International Pilgrim’s Mass and the special rosary procession, immersing ourselves in the spiritual significance of this sacred day. Later, we’ll explore the museum and visit the modern Holy Trinity Basilica, reflecting on the messages of peace and prayer given by Our Lady. In the afternoon, we will retrace the Stations of the Cross along the Via Sacra, a deeply moving devotional experience.
Overnight: Fatima (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 4
Flights to Rome

Today we transfer to the airport in Lisbon. If time permits, we stop along the way in Santarem. Here we visit the Church of Saint Stephen. Here is housed the miraculous host that turned into blood in the 13th century. We visit this sacred site to witness the revered miracle and partake in the deeply spiritual atmosphere it exudes. We then continue to Lisbon to take our flights to Rome, also known as, “The Eternal City”. Upon arrival at Rome airport, collect our luggage in the baggage claim area, and continue to the Arrivals Hall, where we will be greeted by our tour manager. We will make our way to the bus, and we will drive to the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls to celebrate Mass.

Overnight: Rome (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 5
Rome

Transfer to the Vatican City to join pilgrims from around the world for an audience with His Holiness the Pope (subject to the Holy Father’s schedule and health).  In the afternoon we continue our guided tour to visit the Major Basilicas. -The ceiling of the Basilica of St. Mary Major is said to be decorated with gold that Columbus brought back from the new world. This basilica, the largest in Rome dedicated to the Blessed Mother, is part of the day’s “Christian Rome” tour, and has beautiful Biblical mosaics, a marble floor, bell tower and one of the oldest shrines (containing a relic from the manger of the infant Jesus) dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. We will also visit the Basilica of St. John Lateran which is the oldest of the major basilicas and ranks first as the actual “parish church” of the Pope (Bishop of Rome). There we will learn about the Scala Santa (Holy Stairs). Tradition has it that these steps, said to be the staircase leading once to the praetorium of Pilate at Jerusalem, are sanctified by the footsteps of Jesus Christ during his Passion. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Rome (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 6
Christian Rome

Today we visit St. Peter’s Basilica, built on the site where St. Peter the Apostle was martyred. Here we will walk through the Holy Door for the Jubilee and receive our plenary indulgence. Later, we will have the opportunity to pray at the tomb of St. John Paul II and view Michelangelo’s Pieta sculpture. Free afternoon to explore and shop in Rome on our own.

Overnight: Rome (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 7
Orvieto & Assisi

We depart Rome and drive to Assisi via Orvieto, where we visit the Gothic Cathedral built to house the holy relics of the Eucharistic Miracle of Orvieto. It was this miracle that occasioned the proclamation of the Feast of Corpus Christi and inspired St. Thomas Aquinas to write the famous hymn “Tantum Ergo.” Here we celebrate Mass. We enjoy lunch in a local restaurant with tasting of the Orvieto and Orvieto Classico wine that this region is famous for. We proceed to Assisi and settle into our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Assisi (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 8
Assisi

In Assisi, we will visit the Basilica of St. Francis, the upper Basilica with Giotto’s frescoes representing the life of St. Francis, then the lower Basilica and the Tomb of St. Francis. We then proceed to the Basilica of St. Clare for a tour. We will also visit the nearby Church of Santa Maria Maggiore, where the tomb of Blessed Carlo Acutis is enshrined. Known as the “Cyber Apostle of the Eucharist,” Carlo Acutis captured the hearts of many with his devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and his use of technology to share his faith. This young, inspiring figure, soon to be canonized in April 2025, rests here in a glass tomb, offering pilgrims the profound opportunity to reflect on his life and seek his intercession. The serene atmosphere of the church and its connection to this modern saint make it a deeply moving stop on our journey After lunch, we will transfer to the Convent of San Damiano, where St. Francis received his call to rebuild the Church and where St. Clare lived and died. Here we celebrate Mass before returning to Rome for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Rome (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 9
Flights to Croatia

Today we depart Rome and take our flights to Croatia. Upon arrival to Split (or Dubrovnik) International Airport, your group will meet with your guide and driver and your pilgrimage journey to Medjugorje begins. After short border formalities, between the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, group will arrive in Medjugorje. Check in to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Overnight: Medjugorje (Dinner)

DAY 10
Medjugorje

After breakfast on your first morning in Medjugorje, your local guide will begin introductions starting with a walk from your hotel to the Church St. James. You will arrive just before your first English language mass at 10:00 am. While in Medjugorje, we will join thousands of pilgrims from all over the world celebrating daily mass at St. James Church, visiting Bijakovici Village, Apparition Hill (also known as Podbrdo, where Our Lady first appeared), and gathering at 6PM each evening together to pray the rosary. All three Mysteries will be prayed during the evening program. After the Holy Mass, there is the Blessing of the Sick and blessing of any religious items or souvenirs that you have with you. Every pilgrim in Medjugorje will have time for private devotions, shopping, or simply enjoying your own “freedom of prayer.” We will enjoy dinner each night at our hotel.
